Is Quercetin Good For Kids?

There are many reasons to consider giving your kids a supplement containing quercetin. The compound's immune-balancing and anti-inflammatory properties can help reduce the onset of seasonal allergies and asthma, as well as treat some symptoms of autism spectrum disorder. It can be taken as a food supplement or as part of a chemotherapy protocol. It is also a safe and effective treatment for viral illnesses.

As an antioxidant, quercetin Australia has anti-inflammatory and anti-hypertensive properties. However, preliminary evidence suggests it may also improve adaptive functioning in children with autism and other developmental disorders. This nutrient is safe in food doses of 500-1,000 mg daily. While it's generally considered safe, its use during pregnancy and lactation is not known. In addition, while quercetin is generally safe, no studies have examined its safety when taken in high doses.

While there is limited research on the long-term effects of quercetin, it is thought to be safe to take in food and supplements in dietary doses. For the short-term, supplementation is safe, but it is advisable to consult with a health care professional before administering quercetin supplements. Taking quercetin can cause side effects, including headache, tingling of the arms and legs, and kidney damage.
